A foundation course at Eastbourne School of Art was followed by graphic design at Goldsmiths College and finally a postgraduate course in illustration and printmaking at St Martins. Her early work in the 1970’s included editorial illustration for magazines and print for titles including The Guardian, Sunday Times, New Yorker, Harpers and Queen and Cosmopolitan. The Guardian commissioned a series for their Valentine column. Sara also did a series of horoscope illustrations forCosmopolitan Magazine, and spot illustrations for the Sunday Times wine section
